The team of oikotimes.com has the honor to present an exclusive interview with Ukraine’s representative in the Junior Eurovision 2013 which will take place in Kyiv. She will perform the song “We are one” defending her homeland in the 11th Junior Eurovision edition on November 30th.
Did you think that you will win (the national final)?
It was really surprising for me since all the finalist are strong. It was not my first attempt to participate in JESC. Last year I also took part in the national selection. But only this year luck smiled at me and I am really very happy!
What inspired you to participate with this song? What’s the message you wanna share with us through this song? It was my big desire to participate in JESC and this year I spent much time with my vocal coach preparing for the national selection. And when I won it I realized that I should work even harder to represent Ukraine to the European audience. So, we are trying to discuss every detail to make the stage performance look brighter and more harmonic.
The main idea of the song is very close to me. It goes about the unity of our hearts, our interests and our music. I’d like to share with everybody that we are one and despite being so different and individual nevertheless we are one since it’s music that unites us.
Is your dream to become a big star? who’s your favourite music icon and why?
I’d like to become a famous and honored artist. Among my favorite singers are: Beyonce, Adam Lambert, Adele, Whitney Houston Michael Jackson.
I like Beyonce for her ability to combine perfect singing with dancing on the stage.
I like Adam Lambert for his great range of voice.
I like Adele for her unique individuality.
I like Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson for their genuine talent.
Are you getting ready for November 30th? What kind of preparation work do you do?
I am working hard preparing for November 30. Still, I have 3 months for perfecting my stage and vocal performance. The whole team is trying their best to make my performance on the top level.
Are you a good student? What’s your favourite course and why?
I am doing well at school. My favourite subject is English.
What was the reactions of your school-mates and friends when you won?
My school-mates are supporting me much. I am very grateful to them. Thank you so much for your pleasant words. We will try our best to represent Ukraine on the best possible way!
Thank you Sofia and we truly wish you and Ukraine all the best in JESC 2013 and we will be there to cheer for you!
