LISBON, PORTUGAL – Filipa Sousa, Portugal’s 2012 Eurovision representative told ESCPortugal that the news of her country’s return to Eurovision was a big surprise for her (obviously she is not reading oikotimes.com).
She is currently in Madeira doing some shows and relaxing for a few days but gave some time to talk about the news of Portugal’s return. She received many messages, especially from abroad on Portugal’s absence until this story broke.
She also mentions that she favours an internal selection with a popular Portuguese artist for 2014, where RPT could work alongside a record label and that way promote the country in a beneficial way.
An example is that of Holland with Anouk (2013). On a possible return, Filipa Sousa declined stating that “Beautiful things only happen once in a lifetime”.
The information reaching oikotimes.com from Portugal claim that the national broadcaster is close to internal selection and there is a male and a female singer already submitting a proposal and sponsors to them. By the end of the month we will know the details as we are embargoed from revealing any further information.
