On April 28th 2013, for the first time in Moldova, more than 1000 Moldovans from 13 European cities will participate in a flashmob to support the representative of Moldova at Eurovision 2013, Aliona Moon. The campaign “A thousand lights to the Moon” has an innovative element: supporting the Moldovan singer at Eurovision by promoting the national flag. On April 27th, Moldovans from all over the world are celebrating the National Flag Day.
Diaspora representatives from Bulgaria, France, Greece, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Romania will participate in the flashmob and will project the tricolor on the sky, launching lanterns and balloons with helium in red, yellow and blue colors. The participants will have distinctive elements of national symbols and coloring. Organizers will take care to capture the actions by taking photos and videos that will be distributed after each event.
These actions will be held exactly one month after the first event held in Chisinau, where about 500 people launched lanterns to the Moon. The Diaspora Relations Bureau designed the International Campaign “A thousand lights to the Moon” taking into consideration that Eurovision is a major cultural event that offers huge opportunities to promote Moldova. Also the international campaign provides diaspora the chance to contribute directly to a higher ranking of the Republic Moldovaโs representative.
