The 2012 Eurovision Song Contest winner, Loreen, has published an online photo diary of her recent trip to war torn Afghanistan as part the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan. Loreen joined the Committee, which advocates human rights and education, on her own initiative and has taken a particular interest in supporting and promoting education for children.
The Eurovision winner arrived in the Afghan capital last Wednesday. Loreen undertook the experience, living as the locals do, eating only bread and drinking water. While there she also took a UN flight to the Worsaj Valley in Northern Afghanistan in order to promote women’s education where many young girls are being allowed to go to school for the first time.
Sweden’s Foreign Minister Carl Bildt took to twitter to praise Loreen and ask others to help rebuild Afghanistan.
