TBILISI, GEORGIA – The last time Georgia had a national final for its selection of the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2012. Today GPB announced a national selection and the date for it. Georgian national broadcaster calls for songs to be submitted on December 22nd. Then there will be a selection of artists for the national final on January 14th where jury and tele voting will decide the winner.
Georgian broadcaster GPB will stage a national final to select its Eurovision entrant for next year. Applicants have until December 20 to send in their songs with a jury to select the top 5 which will be televised to the public on December 31. The public will have two weeks, or until January 14, to vote for their favourite song. An international jury will also be making a decision and their votes will be combined with that of the public.

Georgia debuted at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest but last year failed to qualify to the final. The country achieved its highest placing in 2010 with the song “Shine”, performed by Sopho Nizharadze, coming third in the final.
