SWITZERLAND – Speaking to Albanian press, Gjon’s Tears revealed that he wants his 2021 entry for Switzerland (which is confirmed already) to include the Albanian language although he will be needing help as his Albanian are not perfect. This would bring a balance to him.
“I have thought χι Not all in Albanian, but also in French because I want to keep my balance. I’m a little scared because I don’t know Albanian well and I’m not sure if I will be able to pass the power of the lyrics to the audience. That’s why I have to be a little bit more careful with the Albanian language when I write the lyrics, so I need help. “
Speaking about Arilena Ara, Gjon’s Tears said that he preferred the original version of her song rather than the revamped one.
Gjon’s Tears wrote and composed Répondez-moi with songwriters Xavier Michel, Alizé Oswald and producer Jeroen Swinnen as part of a Swiss songwriter camp.
It is an intense mystical song that gets under your skin. The song addresses the themes of origin and self-questioning:
“Everyone asks themselves why exactly we are here, where do we come from and where are we going. These are key questions, particularly for people from a migrant background. My parents are from Albania and Kosovo. I grew up in Switzerland, and it’s my home, these are questions that I think about a lot”. Gjon’s Tears is working through his personal story in the song.”
Gjon concludes “… I want to be proud of who I am, where I come from, and what I have achieved. I want to inspire people to follow their own path with Répondez-moi.”
