ALBANIA – Last year’s event was also the first to be performed outside, the first without an orchestra, and the first time since 1989 that the contest was not hosted at Tirana’s Palace of Congresses.
It is unknown if this style and location will be repeated this year, or whether the Festival will return to the Palace of Congresses with a live orchestra.
Ardit Gjebrea will host this year’s Festivali i Këngës, with help from Jonida Maliqi, Xhemi Shehu, Klevi Kadilli, and Isli Islami.
Jonida Maliqi, 2018 Festivali i Këngës winner, will also appear as an interval performer in the program.
The Festivali i Këngës 60 format has also been confirmed. On the first night, December 27th, all 20 participating songs will be played.
The second night of the performance, on the 28th, will incorporate prior contest hits to highlight the history of Festivali i Këngës.
The festival winner will be revealed during the final concert on the 29th; the winner will go on to represent Albania with their song at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.
