GREECE – Eurovision seems to be a hot topic in Greece for the last few weeks. We start with the 2020 and 2021 Eurovision representative of Greece. Stefanis will release on 3/7 her new song FRIDAY which was one of the songs proposed to her for Rotterdam. We cannot wait for it and see what could have seen in Eurovision 2020, keeping in mind that SUPERGIRL didn’t convince the fans, the bets, and the polls.
On the very same day, Irini Papadopoulou (which mostly we got to know her from reality surviving show) is also to release her Eurovision 2020 bid on the very same day. She will get all the Eurofan media attention as she can not be ignored when the word Eurovision is used for such a release. The Greek fandom was though never so keen to see her in Eurovision.
It was a huge drama back in 2005 when Kostas Bigalis’ song LIGHT IN ORU SOUL was the favorite song for Helena Paparizou in 2005 national final but was unfortunately disqualified as it was released 2 years before on Amazon. Guess who did the exclusive revelation back then! Yes, it was oikotimes who forced ERT to disqualify the song. Mr. Bigalis is bittered and blames everyone for it.
To be fair if the case took place in 2020 he would have been excused by the EBU as the song was in a release with low downloads and purchases and therefore could not have affected massive public impact as it happened with Jamala and Duncan Laurence.
Back to Mr. Bigalis he said that MY NUMBER ONE WAS got lucky actually as the favorite song (his tune LIGHT IN OUR SOUL) was eliminated. For the history, the song was battling in the courts for a year over who’s the real composer ultimately given to Manos Psaltakis and not Christos Dantis who has been proven to have stolen the song.
The last story from the Greek saga comes from a choreographer. Tasos Xiarcho has never denied his dream to go to Eurovision. But his latest performance in the Greek edition of JUST THE 2 OF US with Konnie Metaxa with a song about the recent events in the US (both vocally and stage presentation) sparkled the rumors that he could be ideal to represent Cyprus. Tasos’ creativity has been considered incredibly artistic and the following video can easily prove it.
