MADRID, SPAIN – Although the European Broadcaster Union is not giving out in public the fees, active members pay to the EBU for the Eurovision Song Contest, local press La Voz Libre, reveals (or at least they claim) that TVE is going to spend 356,000 Euros to participate in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest. The fee includes, participation and broadcast of 8 hours of TV show (semifinals and final).
Somehow it doesn’t seem to be correct as Spain is a BIG 5 member and those five countries are suppose to pay on their own half of the annual budget of Eurovision 2015 and this is why they are receiving the privilege to participate in the final of the contest, directly. In the past the following countries participation fees have been announced by local press, they are:
Greece – 150,000 Euro (2012)
Macedonia – 100,000 Euro (2014)
Malta – 80,000 Euro (2010)
Montenegro – 23,000 Euro (2012)
Poland – 70,000 Euro (2014)
Romania – 130,000 Euro (2014)
Ireland – 63,000 Euro (2010)
United Kingdom – 283,000 Euro (2011)
