CROATIA – HRT, Croatia’s official TV, has explained the Dora 2022 voting method and COVID-19 precautions.
Dora 2022 will be determined by a mix of regional jury votes (50%) and public voting (50 %). In the event of a tie, the song with the most public votes will be proclaimed the winner.
Dora 2022 will be decided by eleven regional juries. These regional juries are as follows: Zagreb, Čakovec and Varaždin, Rijeka, Pula, Osijek, Zadar, Knin and Šibenik, Split, Dubrovnik, Vukovar.
Each jury will have three members: one HRT employee (HR music editor or music journalist), one Croatian Composers’ Association member, and one Croatian Music Union member.
During the dress rehearsal on February 18, each member will rank the songs from first to fourteenth place.
The ten top-placed songs will be given points when the findings of individual jury members are added together (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12). Each jury will award 58 points, for a total of 580 jury votes.
The general public may vote in two ways:
- through phone calls — Viewers dial 065 22 44 and enter the song number of their choice. Calls cost 1.50 kuna (fixed line) and 2.40 kuna (mobile phone) (mobile)
- through SMS — viewers text “Dora” with the number of their favourite song to 60006. Messages are 2.40 kuna each.
Viewers may vote up to ten times from the same number, and the voting window will be open for ten minutes. The total amount of points awarded by the public is 580. The public voting points will be distributed based on the proportion of votes collected by each song (eg. if a song gets 10% of the votes, it will receive 58 points).
In addition, HRT has Covid-19 precautions in place in case one of the performers’ tests positive for the virus.
If one or two acts withdraw before February 4, their position is filled by the first, second, third, and fourth reserves.
If five or more artists resign after February 1, their song will be removed and their phone number will become inactive.
If one of the artists develops symptoms or tests positive for Covid-19 after the dress rehearsal on February 16, general rehearsal on February 18, or live show on February 19, a videotape of the artist’s dress rehearsal performance will be aired instead during the live final.
If one of the performers develops symptomatic Covid-19 after the February 18 public rehearsal, a recording from that rehearsal will be broadcast during the live final instead.
Dora 2022’s final will be held on February 19 in Opatija, Croatia, and will be hosted by Duko Urli, Elizabeta Brodi, and Franka Bateli.
