BUDAPEST, HUNGARY – A Dal (“The Song”) is a popular national selection format developed by the Hungarian public service broadcaster that serves as a platform for the fifth time in 2016 to select the Hungarian entry for the 61th Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, Sweden. Since A Dal has been introduced as the Hungarian national selection method for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012, it has proved to be not only an extraordinarily successful TV show but also an important new platform to introduce artists, bands and composers to a large and international audience. Apart from selecting the entry for the Eurovision Song Contest, the most important aim of A Dal is to encourage artists to create new songs of a high standard and to present these songs to the public.
Last Saturday another six contestants qualified for the semi-finals of A Dal 2016 from the third heat of the Hungarian national pre-selection contest.
“Trouble in My Mind” by Petruska received the most jury points with a total of 42. Szilvia Agárdi’s “It is Love” received 40 points form the on-screen jury and the viewers. Parno Graszt took third place with their song “Már nem szédülök” scoring 38 points. B the First’s “You Told Me That You Loved Me” received 36 points. There was a three-way tie for the fifth place and the jury decided to qualify Nika with “Emlékkép”. The sixth qualifier was decided by televoting, and the viewers chose Olivér Berkes and Andi Tóth with “Seven Seas’” to return for the semi-finals.
