Icelandic national broadcaster opened today the submissions for the Eurovision 2014 National Selection with a message on Facebook. Submissions will be accepted by October 7th.
The rules indicate that participants and authors should be residents of Iceland at least as of October 1st 2013 unless they are submitting in collaboration with a local author. Even if you live abroad you can submit an entry if you have the Icelandic citizenship.
Artists should be 16 years old by December 31st and not by May which is usually the method in most countries.
The language eventually chosen for Eurovision 2014 might not be the Icelandic.
The songs should meet the basic EBU rules about time and period of release and should be uploaded through their official website the link of whih can be found here.
Each author has the right to submit two songs only and RUV also reserves the right to adjust potential performer to a song.
Söngvakeppnin 2014 will take place in February and the winner will get also 1 million Icelandic Kronors
