BELGIUM – The first episode of the new season of the hugely popular TV show The Masked Singer aired last Friday on Belgian television channel VTM.
Celebrities ranging from tennis players to politicians compete in the show by donning elaborate costumes that conceal their true identities and attempting to win the title of the best singer.
Their identities are kept strictly confidential and are only revealed when a contestant is eliminated or wins the show.
In last week’s episode, eight masked singers competed in duels, and one performance, in particular, caught Eurofans’ attention.
‘Edelhert,’ dressed as a red deer, delivered a powerful rendition of Adele’s Rolling in the Deep. Edelhert, according to Eurofans and domestic audiences, sounds exactly like two-time Eurovision winner Johnny Logan.
Even Eurovision 2010 participant Tom Dice chimed in, tweeting immediately that Edelhert could be the Irish Eurovision star.
Sandra Kim, the winner of Eurovision 1986, won the competition last year, and Logan’s participation could simply be a continuation of this track record of former Eurovision winners participating.
