Jade Ewen has responded to Rita Ora’s mean-spirited comments about her stint on Eurovision. The star represented the UK at the song contest in 2009 after winning a talent search organised by Andrew Lloyd-Webber – a search that Ora walked out on.
The ‘RIP’ singer said of the experience earlier this week: “Imagine! If I’d stayed, it would probably have been all over for me. At best, I’d be a contestant on that diving show. Splash!? Yeah, Splash! I love that show.”
Ewen released a single after she came 5th at the competition, before replacing Keisha Buchanan in the Sugababes. She then competed on Tom Daley’s ITV show earlier this year. Writing on Twitter, she responded: “Easy to mock when you are enjoying success. Eurovision and splash? Proud of both Some manage to sleep their way to success some have morals (sic)”
Her comments have drawn a largely positive reaction, with people on Twitter writing: “Omg, someone give @JadeEwen a MASSIVE hi 5 from me. What a babe!!” and “Jade Ewen is way more classier than Rita Ora, someone say something pls”. @GloPopDimi added: “Good on jade ewen to defend herself… We’ll see how long Ora stays around she might beg for Eurovision/splash/ at some point”
