UKRAINE – Eurovision 2016 winner’s manager Igor Tarnopolskiy, member of the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest organising committee also spoke about the bidding process for the Host City. Speaking to Dushya he said (according to the translation provided by http://www.esckaz.com):
“Preparatory work on our part to study readiness of the cities is completed, all materials have been transferred to the head of the Organizing Committee – Prime-Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groisman. He is the last instance, and, as far as I understand, now decision belongs to him, rather to anyone else. I believe that the responsibility for such a decision should be taken by the leadership of the country, because it will be officials at all levels who will need to work on the promised funding, on improvement of the infrastructure, security and so on”.
“The longer it is delayed, more such thoughts will be growing in people’s minds. I’m sure someone will be saying the same thing about Kyiv. Both cities want to influence the outcome, and in the end specially because of this there was launched this competition, which was held in a transparent mode, and, in my opinion, gave the complete picture required for taking the decision. We have done a good research work, and we can say that both Kyiv and Odessa are very adequately prepared at this stage. But at this moment we have seen only the projects on paper and heard their vision of how the things will be. The preparation itself hasn’t started yet. So how will it all go – only practice can tell. I have the same skepticism about both cities. Some people are already panicking, saying that we don’t have enough time. But in fact a week more or less – it doesn’t matter. Just wait for another week – and everyone will know the decision!”
