BELARUS – Belarusian entry for Nikita Alekseev seems to turn into a scandal. The problem is that he clearly violates the Belarusian national selection rules by having performed his song prior to September 1st rule something that EBU might allow but BTRC clearly in its rules doesn’t. The thing is that the web is full of videos links showing Alekseev performing his entry “Forever” with different lyrics but with obvious same tune his song in all of his tour stops! His manager though says: The song “Forever”, presented by ALEKSEEV to the qualifying round of the Eurovision in Belarus will for the first time be publicly performer in front of jury on January 11. The fragment of the song “Navsegda”, performed by Nikita earlier at the concerts in Kyiv and Stavropol with a completely different lyrics and a modified melody and a song “Forever” are different works, as evidenced by the relevant agreements between the artist and the songwriters: the song “Forever” is composed by K. Pavlov, M.Koshevoy, lyrics by E.Matyushenko, song “Navsegda” written and composed by K.Pavlov. You can see the videos in the links here:

SWEDEN – It seems that tomorrow at 14:00 CET Sweden will reveal the running order for the semi finals as SVT and Christer Björkman posted an announcement on Facebook (and we think this time it will bot be a mistake). It is also announced that the live broadcast will also include David Lindgren. We also got to know that thee official album of 2018 Melodifestivalen will be available after the fourth semi final which means as of February 25th. In the meantime, Christer was recently in France for participating in the international jury and cast his vote.
UNITED KINGDOM – In the meantime another Sweden is on the spotlight. Måns Zelmerrlöw is in the UK filming his stuff for the UK national final.
CZECH REPUBLIIC – Creative Director of the Czech delegation, Jan Potměšil revealed that the winner of the Czech national final and 2018 representative in Lisbon will visit 6 countries to promote his/her entry. We remind you that last year Martina Carta visited Latvia, UK, Spain, The Netherlands and Israel, to promote her entry.
DENMARK – Eight repräsentatives of national broadcaster express their worry over the Danish government intention to cut 25% of the DR budget (although originally it was set to 12.5%). They express their worry on the freedom of speech and emphasise there is a danger on the public broadcast services. Of course we can all estimate that there might be cuts that could affect the Eurovision Song Contest.
FORMER YUGOSLAV REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA – After lots of talks and preparations the past few months, the 26 year dispute between FYR Macedonia and Greece over the country’s names is about to be resolved. There are speculations for the new name but nothing is concrete yet. The first meeting has been speeded to next week under the UN negotiators and both sides are now 100% willing to resolve the issue by the end of spring. This could mean immediate ergo omnes change of the name for the country and it’s highly possible to see the country competing in Lisbon under its new name.
