The singers for the Festival da Canção 2019 will be unveiled on January 21 at a press conference to be held at Time Out Studio in Ribeira Market, RTP revealed.
For few months there have been rumours of Sergey Lazarev making his Eurovision comeback in 2019. Now Russian newspaper Moskovskij Komsomolets reports that Sergey will represent Russia in Tel Aviv with “super-ballad, something grand and epic”.
It has been revealed that Bar is currently at the height of negotiations in order to get chosen as one of the hosts of the contest in May. It was also revealed that the tax indictment has not affected the likelihood of Bar landing the hosting gig. “Senior officials involved in the matter made it clear that the chances that the council would prevent the Eurovision production from casting Bar, contrary to the professional opinion, are low, almost nil”
FORMER YUGOSLAV REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA 🇲🇰
The popular pop rock duo, Next Time, are discretely sharing some interesting snippets via social media hinting that they might just be FYR Macedonia’s 2019 Eurovision representatives in Tel Aviv.
The Head of Delegation for RTBF at Eurovision has explained how the broadcaster selects the singer and song that will represent them at the contest. Ms Cable explained that the broadcaster has a 17 member jury formed of people involved in the world of music that help to select their participant. The members of the jury are to remain secret according to Cable, but their decision is crucial in finding the correct combination of singer and song.
LRT have made the lineup changes to ‘Eurovizijos’ – which has already started with heat one results two weeks ago on the 5th January 2019 – ahead of heat two which has already been recorded and will be televised later this week on 19th January 2019. Last month, 49 participants were confirmed by LRT however following the withdrawal of a participant, 3 new artists were drafted in and 1 artist who already has a song in the competition will be performing a second song too. The three new songs by new artists are:
Sasha Song & Dovilė – “Bad Boy”
Linas Jakštys – “Criminal Love”

16 songs will compete for the Tel Aviv ticket during the 3rd night of the Dora festival in Opatija. Croatian national broadcaster announced that they have received over 170 songs for the big return of the national final. A preselection panel of seven members listened to all entries and chose the 16 candidate songs, as well as two reserve entries for the Dora 2019. The songs that will compete in the national final, Dora 2019, will be announced tomorrow, January 17 by HRT.
Slovenia’s national broadcaster is organizing EMA once again, in order to select the successor of Lea Sirk. They just announced that this year’s EMA will take place on the 16th of February.
Michael Schulte among interval acts for Germany’s national final, Unser Lied für Israel. Last year at Unser Lied für Lissabon, Mike Singer had the pleasure to fill the gap. But this year three acts will share the spotlight: Michael Schulte, Udo Lindenberg and Revolverheld.
