Belgium hosted the 2005 Junior Eurovision edition and RTBF welcomed everyone at Ethias Arena on November 26 in a show hosted by Marcel Vanthilt & Maureen Louys. 16 countries (Cyprus withdrew from the contest at a late stage but was allowed to vote) participated while Vladik Myagkostupov, Maria Isabel entertained the viewers and audience in the interval act. Viewers. of each participating country vote by telephone and SMS. Each country’s 10 favourites are awarded 1 to 8, 10 and 12 points based on the number of votes. It was organised in a joint effort by the Belgian national broadcasters VRT and RTBF. Belgium won the right to hold the contest over five other countries. The show was not only broadcast live in the competing countries, it was also available on satellite worldwide and the Australian television channel SBS
