SOFIA, BULGARIA – The Bulgarian national broadcaster might be gearing up preparations for the 2015 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest but a big strike on the contest took place today.
Cyprus and Sweden announced their withdrawals from the contest this year. Cyprus national broadcaster CyBC announced they would love to participate but they don’t have the money to and Sweden (who already announced no Lilla Melodifestivalen this year) claim restricting in the kids program and they cannot organise in time for possible participation.
EBU though doesn’t give up. They leave open doors for potential collaborations with commercial broadcasters in both Cyprus and Sweden and who knows they might succeed something. In the meantime this announcement creates already a big loss for the contest (especially with the Eurovision 2015 winner country missing from it)
