POLAND – It seems that there is some interesting news coming out of yesterday’s press conference where TVP revealed the hosts of the 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest edition.
The press conference took place in the studio, where “Szansa na Sukces” was previously recorded, was prepared on a grand scale. It was hosted by Agata Konarska (known for conducting the JESC 2019 press conference in Gliwice), and the participant of 2020 Junior Eurovision participant Ala Tracz, who also performed her song on stage, a stage which we saw for the first time.
The director and artistic director of the competition – Konrad Smuga and the president of TVP – Jacek Kurski made some interesting statements while online EBU’s Supervisor Martin Osterdahl shared his thoughts. The hosts were also presented as reported yesterday.
Video materials were also shown – a memory of Viki Gabor’s victory along with a clip presenting the Eurovision Junior hosts. A lot of journalists, reporters and photojournalists came to the meeting, with Mateusz Szymkowiak (Head of Delegation for senior and junior editions) attending as well.
We do hope they kept the COVID-19 protection measures (if any!) The event took place with the principles of social distancing, everyone (except those performing on stage) had to cover their mouth and nose. Fragments of the conference were shown in “Panorama”, and a more extensive report aired on TVP1 after 10:45 PM.
The most interesting part was the revelations of Konrad Smuga who’s the Director and Artistic Director of Junior Eurovision 2020. He revealed that some countries who cannot pay to build the specified stage in their own studio to comply with the overall common presentation of their song will fly to Warsaw to record their performance.
He clarified that all countries either performing in Warsaw or their home studio must comply with all technical specifications about lights, cameras and stage.
He also noticed that the event and its emergency – due to the pandemic crisis – format will be closely followed by the Dutch Broadcasters since it’s actually a test fort he SCENARIO-D for Eurovision 2021 edition.
It was also clear that TVP wishes to work again with Alicja Szemplińska in Eurovision but they made no official promise / announcement.
Don’t forget the 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest takes place on November 29th.
