SPAIN – Under the restrictions for the pandemic crisis, EBU and TVP decided this year to ask the participants to perform either in a homeland studio or in Warsaw (if travel was an option) recording, therefore, their performances for the live broadcast which took place last night.
There were claims in the social media that France, Belarus and Russia performed full playback, trying through video footage to prove their claims.
Many though argued that the confusion was made mostly because there is an official rule allowing backing vocals to be recorded and also because the issue raised mostly by Spanish media which didn’t see the French win with a good eye, especially since their entry was a favourite to win.
This crisis, which made Junior Eurovision hashtag popular on an international level (reaching 6th position worldwide) forced TVE to posed the question through Toรฑi Prieto, the Spanish Head of Delegation.
EBU immediately responded and re-assured TVE and everyone that all performances aired last night were live (in the lead singing part). EBU assures everyone that all security measures to prevent any playback option were taken and that France is the rightful winner of the 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
Even Valentina seems to have been flattered by this posting a Tweet in which she mocks all accusations.
Well I must say Iโm glad some of you think this was playback, it means you canโt hear stress in my voice ๐๐ #JESC20

In the meantime, the TV ratings are coming in and the figures are not exactly what EBU would have expected… But for this issue, we gather more information for a later on post.
