UKRAINE / PRESS RELEASE – In response to a request from the host broadcaster of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 (Italian public service broadcaster) for a photo from the most beautiful places of their homeland, the band Kalush Orchestra presented photos from Lviv.
In the photos, the musicians pose against the background of the Latin Cathedral sculptures wrapped in fabric and lined with sandbags. By doing so, Ukrainians try to preserve the monuments of sculpture and architecture from Russian air raid attacks.
“With this photo, we wanted to show that, although our country is hidden now, still it is beautiful, multicultural and diverse. The way our people defend their freedom amazes the whole world today. At the same time, each city takes care of its monuments with great care – we also see beauty in this”, Oleh Psiuk, the frontman of Kalush Orchestra, said.
As a reminder, Kalush Orchestra will perform in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 at number 6 on 10 May, in Turin, Italy.
The band visited Israel, the Netherlands and Spain where they raised funds to support Ukraine during a promotional tour before the Eurovision Song Contest.
UA: PBC, being a member of the European Broadcasting Union, arranges and selects the song and a representative from Ukraine, as well as provides for the participation of a representative of Ukraine at the international Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Italy.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2022 will take place in the Italian city of Turin at PalaOlimpico arena with the participation of 40 countries, first in the semifinals on 10 and 12 May, and then in the grand final on 14 May.
