UNITED KINGDOM – 2006 UK national final participant, Karl William Lund, revealed that he submitted a song for Ireland in the 2017 preselection process and when declined he offered the song to Azerbaijan. Azeri broadcaster offered to buy the song from him in return to quit his copyrights on it. Karl William Lund refused as he thinks that potential Eurovision participation would have bring him much more royalties than the Azeri payment.
Karl William Lund is a Merseyside-born, London-based singer, songwriter & music producer. Karl’s profile rose dramatically in February 2016 when he was one of six acts shortlisted to represent the UK at this years Eurovision Song Contest – narrowly missing out to Joe & Jake. Karl gained an array of new fans & followers who crowd funded his brand new album ‘Oracle’ via Pledge Music. Karl is now touring round Europe promoting the album.
