ITALY – Last Sunday, Go_A singer Kateryna Pavlenko appeared in the Juventus-Inter football match. Together with the Italian singer Gaia, they performed “Imagine” by John Lennon. This song is considered an anthem for Ukrainian citizens, who are suffering because of the Russian invasion of their country.
The band Go_A stated
On April 3, in the match between Juventus – Inter, the Italian-Brazilian singer and composer Gaia and our singer Kateryna Pavlenko, will sing “Imagine” by John Lennon, in front of all the fans of both teams. The president of Serie A (s.s. of the Italian Football Championship) chose this song because it is an anthem for hope. It is taught in our schools to transmit the values โโof peace, tolerance and brotherhood. Music creates something that other arts cannot. We hope that this message will reach the whole world.
For his part, Lorenzo Casini, the newly elected president of Serie A, stated that
I want to thank the companies for all that they have done to help the Ukrainian people and to promote peace. I also thank the two teams that accepted the Serie A proposal to perform this song. I hope that this message will reach the whole world so that the fundamental principles of sport can be promoted. I would also like to thank the two artists, Gaia and Kateryna Pavlenko, who enthusiastically accepted our invitation. Kateryna came directly from Ukraine, and we hope you can stay in our country for a while. This is due to the hospitality offered by the Municipality of Milan.
This was the first time that Kateryna Pavlenko went outside the Ukrainian borders, after the outbreak of war. She would appear in this year’s final of Sรถngvakeppnin, however, she could not leave the country with Go_A.
