Belgian international singer Lara Fabian, who entered the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest held in Dublin on behalf of Luxembourg, will release her 15th album entitled “Le secret” (The secret) on April 15th, 2013. The performer had been very discreet in France and French speaking countries over the past years, being focused on her international career, especially in Russia, but her comeback will probably be full of surprises as “Le secret” has been announced as a “progressive rock” album!
Lara Fabian had not released any original album since 2005 and the record entitled “9”, but several compilations, live and cover albums such as “Toutes les femmes en moi” and its international version “Every woman in me” in 2009 hit the music market. Lara also worked on a conceptual music and image project destined to her Russian fans, “Mademoiselle Zhivago”.
The golden-voiced singer will be back in 2013 with a new album made of some 15 original tracks she wrote together with Bruce Gaitsch, top guitarist for Sting and Madonna, and recorded in Nashville, Montreal and Brussels. French newspaper Le Parisien reveals in this morning edition that Lara Fabian’s new album is “a concept album, somewhere in between progressive rock and a movie soundtrack”.
Once more, the singer gives a new direction to her career to surprise both her fans and music critics who are generally very harsh on her work and attitude. Expectations are high indeed as her recent efforts did not convince: “Toutes les femmes en moi”, the tribute album to female singers she admires has sold approximately 70,000 copies, her best-of album only convinced 40,000 buyers in 2010 and the album “Mademoiselle Zhivago” could only be found in Carrefour supermarkets. Lara Fabian who has no record deal anymore and is her own producer will also give a 80-date tour to present her new songs later in 2013 if “Le secret” proves a successful comeback.
