LITHUANIA – Early January will see the start of Pabandom iš naujo, with specific dates to be revealed later.
There will be three heats, two semi-finals, and a Grand Final, depending on the number of competitors.
There’s no word yet on whether or not the recordings will be open to the public. The selection will choose the Lithuanian representative for next year’s event in Italy, and it will be made up of up to 36 contestants over six performances.
Regardless of an artist’s background, LRT has developed a new innovation to improve the quality of their performances across the board.
The competing performers will each get up to 54,000 Euros to spend toward the production of their entry and the staging of their performance throughout the selection process…
LITHUANIA IN EUROVISION
Lithuania has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest (known in Lithuania as Eurovizijos dainų konkursas) 21 times since its debut in 1994, where Ovidijus Vyšniauskas finished last, receiving “nul points”.
Lithuania withdrew from the contest, not returning until 1999. LT United’s sixth place in 2006 with the song “We Are the Winners” is Lithuania’s best result in the contest.
The country reached the top ten for the second time in 2016 when Donny Montell finished ninth with “I’ve Been Waiting For This Night”, and for the third time in 2021, finishing eighth with The Roop and “Discoteque”.
As of 2021, Lithuania remains the only Baltic country that is yet to win the contest after wins for Estonia in 2001 and Latvia in 2002.
However, since the introduction of the semi-final round in 2004, Lithuania has had more final appearances than the other Baltic nations, with ten, compared to seven for Estonia and six for Latvia.
