RUSSIA – In March, Channel One (RU) announced that Little Big would represent Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with UNO. The musicians came up with the idea for the song in February during a vacation with the whole crew. After they returned to Saint-Petersburg, they finished the work on the track.
Following the cancellation of the event, the Russian national broadcaster didn’t confirm them for Eurovision 2021 as there are complicated procedures in the country regarding the selection. There are two broadcasters taking over the selection and the broadcast of the show per year.
The Russian band, speaking to the Russian edition of FORBES explained and clarified some things. First, the band states that they are happy with the publicity their work had so far despite the unexpected cancellation of the event. Their song became a hit in Europe and third in YouTube views.
The song UNO is not eligible anyway for Eurovision 2021 but the band clarify that all expenses regarding the so far promo came out of their own pockets without sponsors but they don’ regret it as they don’t want to obey every weird demand the sponsors might have.
Regarding the show EUROVISION: EUROPE SHINE A LIGHT, the band hasn’t been informed yet what it is all about and what they will do in the show. They were only asked to record a 30-second video.
Regarding Eurovision 2021 the band explains that 2020 selection was under CHANNEL 1 while 202 selection and broadcast rights go to RUSSIA 1.
