LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM – good evening from the British capital and Eventim Apollo London where the 60 years of Eurovision Song Contest are celebrated by BBC’s EUROVISION’S GREATEST HITS. During the live show we are strictly forgiven to record or take photo of the show as BBC instructed us. Graham Norton and Petra Mede host the show.
During the performances lucky members of the audience will win awesome prizes. The show has live orchestra which will accompany the performers tonight. Guy Freeman got on stage before the show thanking everyone for attending and supporting the event. So let the show begin
The show includes Electro Velvet the 2015 UK entrants a performance not included in the broadcast. It’s the first time we listen to them live and actually guys THEY CAN SING VERY WELL!!! In silver suit Graham Norton introduces us Petra Mede who enters the stage in a spectacular red dress and welcome all 4,000 spectators who will get the biggest indoor selfie breaking the record set in a smaller venue in Paris. The best joke of the evening was when Graham said no voting or French tonight while Petra translated into … French!!!
26 counties are going to broadcast the recorded show. Emmelie de Forest the Danish winner of 2013 Eurovision Sobg Contest performs live with the orchestra band and lots of prop smoke in stage, four dancers and lots of percussionists. With a small intro summary of the specific Eurovision event we move to he next performer Anne Marie David who won in 1973 on behalf of Luxembourg who gets the stage in a white suit. She also sings half of the song in English.
1984 winners The Herreys take the stage dresses in silver outfits with different shirt colours and perform their legendary entry and they actually dance like they did back then. vocally in the arena they suck but who cares it’s the 60 years party! 1998 Eurovision winner Dana International brought life to the contest with her historic victory. Despite cancelling her meeting with the press she remains a true Diva on stage who performs totally off key most likely because of sound problems. She is dressed in black stretched pants and has stripes in the colour of the gay flag. The 2000 winners The Olsen Brothers from Denmark took over the stage with their dark suits and white guitars and once again they flew us on the wings of love.
While the show interrupted many times for the stage and the hosts to re run their lines we move to 1976 Eurovision winners Brotherhood of Man who appear on stage. The biggest UK selling winners with 6 million copies across the world. Dressed in black suits all together bring us back to wonderful 1976!!! The 2002 SPANISH representative Rosa Lopez performed and took the stage by storm. Dozens of SPANISH fans waved their flags! Nicole was next and got huge applause after all she deserves it after crying literally for peace in the afternoon press meet and greet.
The first actual surprise appeared afterwards when the 1994 interval act “Riverdance” presented once again amazing even without Michael Flatley. After a 15 min break we are back in the arena and Lordi were next and great memories from Athens 2006 Eurovision Song Contest while fire props used for their live performance although their song was play back.
Officially we proceed with the second part of the show where Graham changes to black suit and Petra into black glittered gown. Back to 2001 where Natasha St-Pier who should have won actually back then is performing on stage with her amazing dark pink dress and lots of confetti drop upon her performance which is accompanied by a ballet act of a male and female dancers.
We move to Dima Bilan and the welcome is very negative with people booing. The hosts calm people down and Dima comes on stage. Still the reactions are very negative in the audience but the singer gives a great double performance of both 2008 and 2006 entries of his. We go a bit back in time when in 1985 Bobbysocks brought the bey first trophy back to Norway! Panic next for Loreen in the arena when Euphoria performed in special edition with a great dance act with female dancers and long fabrics
Before the show ends two more acts amazed the arena and will amaze you on TV one of them is Mister Eurovision Johnny Logan who won twice as a singer and once as a composer! The arena goes nuts with the historical “Hold me now” while his 1980 entry also performed along plus “why me” who made Ireland kicking off its series of victories making the country the Queen of Eurovision
Another surprise for you as Lys Assia is in the audience crowned queen of Eurovision and then Conchita gives a stunning performance of “Rise Like a Phoenix” and gets the biggest applause inside the arena. the show ends with all together for a special Eurovision songs like Hallelujah and Waterloo.
we are not uploading any kind of videos or photos form the show despite some website did, due to strict embargo from BBC about that.
