GREECE – The 2019 edition of MAD Video Music Awards concluded last night with more than 10,000 auditors following the event from the Tae Kwon Do arena, as the event is annually recorded for later broadcast via ALPHA TV. It is estimated that the broadcast will take place on July 6th.
The event kicked off yesterday with the red carpet with lots of Eurostars attending the press and media met and greet process. Of course we had there, Luca Hânni who tried to speak in Greek (or at least learn some words by the MAD TV hostess).
But two hours later Luca and his Greek colleague Vangelis Kakouriotis slay on stage with a bilingual version of SHE GOT ME which recently certified a platinum. Luca was warmly welcomed by the Greek audience and charmed the fans at the arena.
Then it was a young girl named Stefania. A Greek girl of diaspora whom we all (Eurofans) met in the 2014 Junior Eurovision Song Contest as she represented The Netherlands. Back then she and her other two girl mates on stage, were the favourites to win the event but shapely they didn’t do that well. but now that 2020 Eurovision edition will take place in The Netherlands, Stefania could be a Eurovision entrant option for Greece, while the country cannot recover yet from another disastrous year in the scoreboard.
Of course the show included performances from other Eurovision stars such as Katy Garbi who celebrated her 30th anniversary in the music industry, Melisses, the bad which participated in the 2010 national selection who also celebrated their 10th anniversary in the industry of music, Sakis Rouvas, Ivi Adamou, Josephine who entered the 2015 national final but it was Tamta who one again puzzled the audience with her REPLAY entry.
Everyone was asking Tamta how can she look so confident and stressless and she replied that she is not feeling anxious, never as that’s her nature. On the other side you can see that the recently becoming superstar of Greece, Eleni Foureira is almost exhausted. She is performing almost every day and she is now packing for Barcelona and Madrid Pride but she was on stage last night to showcase her brand new song. The choreography was simply stunning, sexy and unquestionably perfect.
Foureira managed o get two awards last night (more than anyone actually) but she didn’t forget to perform once again FUEGO, acapella.
Not only a tradition but Greece’s number one, Helena Paparizou Mae two appearances. In one of them she accompanied Demy’s swan dancer Jason Mandilas, whom we met at 2017 Eurovision Song Contest. Jason and Helena performed together a new summer song which will definitely become the summer lounge hit. Jason is fulfilling his dreamt become a singer and we wish him nothing less than success.
Stay tuned for more updates from the event. If you cannot wait, though, we suggest you follow our Instagram account and get more glimpses of the event last night.
