GREECE – Today, morning shows in Greece reported that Samira Efendi will attend the filming of MAD VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS which will take place this June in Athens, Greece.
Every year a Eurovision participant of the current edition is attending and performing (usually one or more). This year it seems that Samira is the first Eurovision 2021 act confirmed.
WHY SAMIRA?
Not easy to explain to you but her song MATA HARI has become viral (rather than a success) in Greece through social media mocking and morning TV shows parodies simulating the spirit of the oriental song with the general Greek sentiment of the nation’s need to get out o the 14-month quarantine and enjoy, finally, the summer.
Anyway, back to MAD VMA. It is known that the format of the awards is based on duet performances in between the award process. Efendi is chosen to perform alongside Josephine.
You know Josephine from her 2015 national final participation, which might not have made an impression (at least to you all) but for the past two years, through her song hits, emerged as a definite “must-do-Eurovision” artist.
Although Josephine has truly an interesting voice, though, everyone doubts she can deliver a song with high notes and as you can listen from the music style of songs she performs, she is always choosing safe tone performances. But her stage presentation might be adequate enough for a good result. The problem is now if ERT would like such an idea!
We remind you that for some reason, MAD VMA performances always work as a test for potential bids to ERT, a long discussion for a future editorial, though.
