The police force in Malmö is prepared for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, with special protection to be issued to the Israeli delegation. Since Thursday the area around Malmo Arena has been cordoned off and security checks have been put in place. Sniffer dogs from Stockholm and Gothenburg have been brought in to assist with the event.
Due to the events during the 2009 Davis Cup match between Israel and Sweden in Malmö, when anti Israel demonstrations took place in front of the arena, the Israeli delegations will be under constant supervision. The Swedish broadcaster SVT believes there will be no repeat of the violence from four years ago.
