MALTA – Following Emma’s trip to Sofia for recording in the studio of Boris Milanov, rumours sparked for Malta’s Eurovision 2022 venture.
Social media started to speculate a song change. But that wouldn’t be the first time for Malta as they did the same thing in Eurovision 2016 with Ira Losco and we all remember how that went.
Not sure how the Eurofans will take a possible change of the Maltese song, but the co-participants of Emma are not thrilled as we learn. Most of them are sarcastic in our off the record discussions and will certainly vow against PBS if something like that happens.
And guess what; Malta has elections! That would bring the spotlight and the tension to the national broadcaster and the state broadcaster might not b able to handle this.
A new story by Emma was teasing a potential song change, which theoretically is allowed by the TVM rules for Eurovision 2022 but can you imagine how the other participants of the MESC marathon will feel after all that hard work?
We tried to reach TVM people but they keep silent. Now we understand why! Well, hiding is not gonna help the situation as the entire effort is not properly communicated.
It is statistically proven that a song change after a national selection never worked for a Eurovision entrant. Shall we recall Alyona Lanskaya?
