SWEDEN – On April 10, Måns Zelmerlöw released the song “Old Days” together with Norwegian artist Morgan Sulele. Morgan who made a success In Norway most recently in “Where did we meet”, which is the Norwegian equivalent of “So much better“, and Måns quickly met on both a friendly and a musical level and the result was “Old Days” as they have written together with Jesper Bogren and Simon Strömstedt.
Now Måns is up to date with another single release, this time the song “On my Way” from the latest album “Time” which was released in October last year and which has spouted out some of Måns biggest hits like “Walk with me” duet with Dotter, “Better now” – this autumn’s big radio song, and now most recently “One”, all multiple platinum awards.
The latest album “Time” is the eighth Moon release and it is the most personal and elaborate to date. The record was named “Time” because it reflects his life a few years ago, sometimes even earlier than that, and leads up to today. Many songs were written before the album, partly at songwriting sessions in Battersea, London, and part in Peter Gabriel’s legendary Real World studio in Bath.
Måns Zelmerlöw says:
“On my way” is a letter to myself as a young boy. In the first verse, I say what I needed to hear when I was bullied as an 11-year-old. Everything will be good and believe in yourself. It continues with my teenage years. About getting your heart broken at 15 and having “made it” at 21. Knowing that you have a very hard job ahead of you and that nothing comes for free. From a musical standpoint, “On my way” contains a new sound for me that was produced together with the producers for the song Pete Hammerton and Fredrik Sonefors. I feel very much today. The song almost wrote itself, it came very naturally. I love it when it happens!”
LYRICS
You don’t need to hear the shit that they talkin’
You don’t need to care, it’s nothin’ important
‘Cause you’re only 11, it’s only the start
One day they’re all gonna know who you are
Just keep on walking
You don’t need to stay at the back of the classroom
You don’t need to play it all back when they laugh at you
‘Cause you’re only 15 and you know in your heart
One day they’re all gonna know who you are
Just keep on walking
I’m on my way
I’m getting closer every day
To where I’m supposed to be
I know it’s only a question of time
If anyone’s asking just tell them that I’m on my way
And don’t be let down if you’re not what they’re after
Oh, it’s not the ending, it’s not a disaster
‘Cause you’re only 15 and she’s only the first
To mess with your head and I know that it hurts
But keep on walking
And don’t be the man who forgets where he came from
Oh, a little success doesn’t make you an icon
‘Cause you’re 21 now and it’s time that you know
Nothing comes easy and you’ve got so far to go
Just keep on walking
I’m on my way
I’m getting closer every day
To where I’m supposed to be
I know it’s only a question of time
If anyone’s asking just tell them that I’m on my way
(Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh)
(Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh)
Just keep on walking
(Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh)
Just keep on walking
(Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh)
I’m on my way
I’m getting closer every day (oh-oh)
To where I’m supposed to be
I know it’s only a question of time
If anyone’s asking just tell them that I’m on my way
(I’m on my way)
