MALTA – With recent polling odds ranking her in 6th place, Ira Losco may be on her way to finally bringing the Eurovision Song Contest to Malta. EUROVISION 2016 HOSTESS – Petra Mede will present the Eurovision Song Contest alongside Måns Zelmerlöw, last year’s winner. Petra hosted the contest in 2013 too, where she exclusively wore dresses by famous French designer, Jean-Paul Gaultier. This year, she will showcase three Swedish designers: Lars Wallin, Ida Lanto and Valerie Aflalo.
NORWAY – The Norwegian hopeful candidate for the win in this year’s contest, Agnete, has cancelled all official events during Eurovision 2016 in Stockholm, she says in a official statement. Agnete is fighting so much with her psyche that she feels that it is necessary to focus on the most important thing, which is the three minutes she will be performing on the stage. This means that Agnete basically will not be a part of the events up to the semi finals and the official press activities during the rehearsals. Agnete has been fightning with depression since she was a teenager with troubles thinking good thoughts. “Everything is just negatively. A true hell,” she said to the Norwegian pager VG. Both her management and the Norwegian delegation is backing Agnete up staying that she is ready to perform in Stockholm, but she needs the focus on the song.
THE NETHERLANDS – The Telegraf is reporting that the Dutch entrants from Eurovision 2009 were approached with a proposal to buy sms votes during Eurovision. The manager of the band Benno de Leeuw will make the comments tonight on the NPO 2 program Brandpunt. He said that he was approached to have a meeting with an Eastern European man in Hengelo, the Netherlands. The man then makes an offer that he bombard the voting with SMS votes for the Toppers, the cost of this would have been a couple of million euros. Mr de Leeuw and the rest of the Toppers did not take the offer. The news comes three years after it emerged in the Lithuanian press that a number of individuals were approached in Vilnius to vote in favour of Azerbaijan in the final.
