STOCKHOLM, DENMARK – The Eurovision world was surprised to learn that the world star Justin Timberlake would be performing during the Grand Final on Saturday. According to the Swedish newspaper Expressen it was the team behind Justin Timberlake who came up with the idea of performing in the Eurovision Song Contest, he manager Johnny Wright says.
– Justin is a global, international artist. He understands the different platforms around the world. Justin is very picky when choosing which TV programs he does. But Eurovision is a program of new music. We sent the idea to them. They loved it. We were looking for opportunities around the world. Justin is on a promotional tour right now. We brainstormed and came up to Eurovision is one of the world’s largest programs. It was a challenge for us because they have never had an artist who isn’t a contestant in the program. But after a meeting we agreed on it.
The managers also says that he could see USA participating in the contest in the future in a global competition.
