VIENNA, AUSTRIA – Yesterday evening, broadcasters from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Finland and Estonia held their traditional « Nordic Party » at the Chaya Fuera Club, down town Vienna. The Oikotimes team was lucky enough to be invited to the event by SVT.
After a short reception where the entrants could be met (and some Scandinavian beer could be tasted…), the doors were open to the public for the unplugged performances .
First on stage was Norwegian duo Mørland & Debrah. They offered us their very own version of Rybak’s « Fairytale » and then a moving performance of their entry « Monster Like Me ».
Måns from Sweden was second on stage. After a short speech about his joy of being in Eurovision after 2 previous Melodifestivalen attempts, he performed a medley of his three entries « Cara Mia », « Hope And Glory » and of course « Heroes ».
Next on stage was the charming Maria Olafs from Iceland. Her unplugged reprise of “Euphoria” was a success, and so was her performance of some Rihanna’s song. Of course, she ended up singing her Eurovision entry “Unbroken”.
Elina and Stig, the Estonian entrants, sang their track “Goodbye To Yesterday”, as well as a new exclusive song.
And so did the Danes. Anti Social Media performed “The Way You Are” and their brand new song.
PKN, from Finland were in the place but for some reasons they did not perform.
After the Nordic party, it was time for “Eurovision Jam Night” with some local band playing live a few Eurovision hits as well as half of Robbie William’s discography! We must say that their version of Conchita’s “Rise Like A Phoenix” was… original.
We ended up the night dancing like crazy on Eurovision standards thanks to a talented DJ. The crowd was fairly enthusiastic, and we could feel a “Euroclub” atmosphere, as if fans were eager to see Ottakringer open its doors! Let’s be patient, the club we’re all waiting for will start from tomorrow evening!
