HUNGARY 🇭🇺
Hungary’s Joci Pápai has released “Te Vagy A Békém” ahead of his Eurovision participation in Israel. The single which is performed with rapper MISSH, translates as “You’re my peace”. The song tells of a relationship where a partner is hiding the truth from one another.
BELARUS 🇧🇾
A few days after joining the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in the first semi-final of the event, the Belarusian singer ZENA released the video for “Like It” in her official Youtube account.
UKRAINE 🇺🇦
On November 2018, Tayanna stated that she would try again to represent Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest. On 10 January 2019, she qualified to the semi-finals of Vidbir 2019 with the song “Ochi (Eyes)”. On 22 January, Tayanna announced through her social media accounts that she refused to continue in the Ukrainian national selection. On February 8th, she released her song which would compete in the national selection, in order to represent Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, in Tel Aviv, Israel.
One week after applying for the Ukrainian contest Vidbir, it was revealed that Alekseev had revoked his bid. It was then later revealed that he entered into Belarus’ contest instead. There was controversy following Alekseev’s entry. Eurovision rules state that the song performed is not allowed to have been performed before September 1 of the previous year. Alekseev, however, had been performing a Russian song named “Навсегда” at his concerts. He then shortened the song and translated the lyrics to English to get around this rule. On January 15, 2018, an article emerged claiming that 11 other finalists in the Belarus contest were threatening to withdraw if Alekseev was allowed to qualify for the contests’ final. However, on February 16, 2018, Alekseev won the Belarus National Selection and represented the country at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, Portugal.
CZECH REPUBLIC 🇨🇿
Lake Malawi is a Czech indie pop band from Třinec formed in 2013. The band consists of lead vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist Albert Černý, bassist and keyboardist Jeroným Šubrt, and drummer Antonín Hrabal. The band was formed by Černý following the breakup of his former band Charlie Straight. Their debut extended play We Are Making Love Again was released in 2015, followed by their debut studio album Surrounded by Light in 2017. They represented the Czech Republic in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the song, “Friend of a Friend”, and came 11th out of a total of 26.
ITALY 🇮🇹
On 30 September 2016, the group together with Placido Domingo released Notte Magica – A Tribute to the Three Tenors. The live album features many of the songs performed by The Three Tenors (Domingo, Pavarotti and Carreras) for their iconic concert held on the eve of the Italia ’90 World Cup. On 4 March 2017 they debuted at the Radio City Music Hall in New York “Notte Magica – A Tribute to the Three Tenors” that will tour in the most important cities of the United States of America, in Italy, Europe and Latin America. The first date was held in Firenzee their concert at the Baths of Caracalla, materialized in an album and a world tour that debuted on 1 July in Piazza Santa Croce in Florence. In 2019, they took part in the 69th Sanremo Festival with the song “Musica che resta”. The piece, written and composed by Gianna Nannini, Emilio Munda, Piero Romitelli, Pasquale Mammaro and Antonello Carozza,ranking in third place.
AZERBAIJAN 🇦🇿
Samra Rahimli is an Azerbaijani singer. In 2015, she competed in O Ses Türkiye (The Voice of Turkey) where she made it to the quarterfinals and in March 2016, she became a finalist on the first season of Səs Azərbaycan (The Voice of Azerbaijan). On 10 March 2016, she was announced as the Azerbaijani act for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the Rahimli performed during Semi Final 1[4] and successfully progressed to the Grand Final where she placed 17th with 117 points.
NORWAY 🇳🇴
Joakim With Steen, is a Norwegian music producer and songwriter. He represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song “Grab the Moment”, along with vocalist Aleksander Walmann finishing in 10th place.
Christopher Edward Medina is an American-Norwegian singer born in Chicago, Illinois. In late 2010 he auditioned for American Idol making it to the top 40 before being eliminated. He is most famous for his hit “What Are Words”, which reached number 1 in Sweden and Norway; it also charted in Denmark and made it to number 83 on Billboard Hot 100.
UKRAINE 🇺🇦
Korsun was born in the Ukrainian city of Pavlohrad. In school Korsun studied music and dance. In 2014, she graduated in a non-musical subject from the Polytechnic Institute in Kharkiv. Despite this, Korsun participated and reached the final of the contest The Voice of the Country. Reboot, which was held in Ukraine. Korsun is married to Olexander Korsun. She met him while studying at the institute. Olexander was the PR manager of The Pringlez. The team included a drummer, guitarists, a songwriter, and also a photographer and sound engineer. In 2015, the group represented Ukraine at the New Wave competition. In addition, one of their songs – Easy to Love – made it to the final of the Ukrainian selection for Eurovision 2016.
AUSTRIA
In 2019, Neuwirth revealed that he would be splitting the characters, Conchita would continue with the more feminine style of performance and a new mononymous persona called WURST would allow for a more masculine expression, Neuwirth also announced that he would be releasing new music as WURST. The single “Trash All the Glam” was released 8 March 2019 through Sony Music Austria. The second single shortly followed, entitled “Hit Me”, which was said to be a hit back to a former boyfriend of Neuwirth’s who he was receiving threats from about how he would publicly reveal his HIV-positive status. A third single, “See Me Now” was released on 5th April 2019. The album was announced under the name Truth Over Magnitude and was to be produced by Albin Janoska.
UNITED KINGDOM 🇬🇧
Susanna Marie Cork, better known as SuRie, is an English singer and songwriter. She was born in Harlow, Essex[citation needed] and raised in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire. She represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal, with her song “Storm” and finished 24th. She previously provided backing vocals and was a dancer for Belgian Eurovision artist Loïc Nottet in 2015 and was the musical director of Blanche in the 2017 contest.
