MALTA – For the second night in a row, the hosts of MESC 2022 welcomed the audience and viewers from the MFCC (Malta Fairs & Conventions Center). Ryan & Josmar hosted the tribute night.
Tonight had an air of nostalgia as it was dedicated to the artists who represented the country in the competition. Archival material from national finals was presented as well as entries and participants from Malta.
Video appearances were made by William Mangion (1993), two members of Firelight (2014) Christabelle (2018), Times 3 (1999), Claudette Pace (2000) who wished good luck to the contestants.
The show started with videos of various moments from the national finals of the country which continued to be shown during the show.
This was followed by a recap of the 22 candidate entries as the voting was still in progress.

Almost all Eurostars “paraded” on the stage, accompanied by the 22 ferret competitors of this year’s MESC 2022.
- Joe Grech (1971), the first representative of the country performing Marija L-maltija, was the first to take the stage at the MFCC.
- Glen Vella (2011) and Olivia Lewis (2007) followed.
- Paul Giordimaina and Georgina (1991), Mike Spiteri (1995), Kurt Calleja (2012) and Miriam Christine (1996).
- Helen and Joseph (1972), Morena (2008) and Thea Garrett (2010).
- Amber (2015), Ira Losco (2002, 2016), Michela (2019), Renato (1975).
- Gianluca (2013), Lynn Chirchop (2003), Chiara (1998, 2005, 2009).
- Julie & Ludwig (2004), Claudia Faniello (2017), Debbie Scerri (1997) and Mary Spiteri (1992).
There was a surprise but a sad moment when there was a special mention of Chris Scicluna who passed away today at the age of 62.
Scicluna represented Malta in the competition in 1994 and together with his wife Moira Stafrace performed the song “More Than Love” winning 5th place.
After a small but substantial tribute to Scicluna, the audience and presenters burst into loud applause.
