STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN – In an interview he gave to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, head of Melodifestivalen Christer Björkman revealed that “free passes” where granted to some artists if they wish to take part to the 54th edition of the national festival.
Let’s remember that out of the 32 participants, 16 of them are directly invited to take part by SVT (Sveriges Television), while the other will be selected by a panel out of the 2628 entrie that are bidding for a ticket.
Alcazar, Lisa Nilsson and Ola Salo are three of those artists. But Björkman’s secret dream would be to see Avicii accept this free pass and perform on Melodifestivalen stage this year.
Avicii (aka Tim Bergling) is probably the most famous Swedish artist abroad thanks to his huge global hit “Wake Me Up” that topped the charts in many countries. He is no stranger to the Eurovision Song Contest since he composed “We Write The Story” the Malmö 2013 anthem, together with Björn and Benny from ABBA.

Let’s hope Christer’s dream will come true and we’ll see Avicii perform on Melodifestivalen stage (not to mention Copenhagen Eurovison Island…).
