ATHENS, GREECE – Most of us still remember the disastrous Greek national final of 2002 and the hideous representation of Greece in Tallinn by Michalis Rakintzis and the song S.A.G.A.P.O which brought Greece in the 17th rank of the voting. Michalis Rakintzis was interviewed by JoinUs show on SKAI TV recently and asked about the Eurovision Song Contest.
“I never expected the media to treat me well or bad. I believe it is a group that does it job judging what to sell or not pending the situations. When they feel they can destroy you in order to sell more they do it without hesitation. When you know the rules then, you accept it or you don’t accept it.”
When the question about Eurovision Song Contest risen, the artist of course defended his act: “I had my distance from Eurovision Song Contest already the next morning. If I had 1000 concerts, that was my 1001th. Eurovision is a specific concept which must be known to the participant long before he goes there or be informed about it. I failed because I thought it was a contest! You see, the game goes beyond the music into other things and there are two options for you: either to get the plane and go back home or live the experience and that’s it… If I entered again it would be with the same song because you can see that up to today no other song is better than S.A.G.A.P.O”

Just remove the “www.” part from the link I previously posted in order for it to work, please.
What you wrote IS NOT TRUE, Aza Mtz! Now, everyone knows the result of that year and it’s true that the live performance could’ve been much better, but if anyone would listen to the studio recorded variant of the song, it could only sincerely conclude that it was a very good song and an even innovative-like one for the ESC. Final ranking in the contest isn’t many times conclusive for the quality of a song. Listen here: http://www.youtu.be/mf27Rm_tcZc
