Milli Sechim 2013 is the national selection of Azerbaijan and ten singers bid to win the ticket for Malmoe. The show starts at 18:00 CET and will be aired by eurovision.tv web TV.
Hello and welcome to the start of Azerbaijan’s national final. We have 10 contestants tonight and one of them will defend the Azeri colors in Malmoe. Now we are listening a remix of Azerbaijans previous hopefuls. Our hosts are greeting us and I guess that they are talking about rules of national final and upcoming Eurovision. We are now meeting with the jurors.
It’s time for the first contestant and its Layla Qafari. Her song its named Pride. Its an up tempo song, with good beats but her voice is very bad. Now the second contestants profile is up. His name Vuqar Muradov. The songs name is Baby, baby. Its quite similar to Turkish entry in 2007. In my opinion he sounds even worse than previous contestant.
Third contestants profile is up. It’s Valeriya Huseynzade. Her song is called If this is love. Another uptempo song. There are two webs on the stage and two dancers are in them. At least she sounds a bit better than the previous two.
Our male host is now going in the green room while next contestant, Leyla Aliyeva is preparing for her performance.
The fourth song is named Welcome to the Sun. On first beats it looks like its a ballad. She is wearing a big red dress and there are also some wind effects included. Until now this sounds the best. Coming right up : Farah Hadiyeva and We are one. Her profile is now on screen. Song has sexy beats. There are two dancers on stage with Farah, who seems to be pusing really it hard as she sounds worst untill now.
I am starting to wonder how bad the people who didn’t pass to the final sound if they sound like this. Our female host just told us that we have international authors of the songs tonight. The sixth contestant is Nigar Huseynova with her “I still believe. Second ballad tonight, second big dress. There is no wind, but a lot of smoke. Another bad voice. Oh, we got the winds on the end.
Next up is Vlada Axundova. She is performing “Big Time”. She is wearing a red suit. There are 4 backing dancers/vocals with her on stage and they are wearing black and white clothes. They are trying to make it look like a cabare act, but they are failing to do it. As you are used to it now, another bad voice.
Our male host is now again in the green room, talking with previous contestants, while the eight contestant is preparing for her performance. Ravana Aliyeva is now on stage ready to perform “Lonely kong”. It’s an uptempo song, but it sounds so monotonous. Two male back dancers are with Ravana on stage.
Ninth contestan tonith is Farid Mammadov. His song is called “Hold me” and its a ballad. He is standing on platform and there are four backing vocals/dancers with him on stage. With Leyla Aliyeva (contestant, not the hostess) this is the best performance of the night. While waiting for the last contestant of the night, Aysel Babayeva, we are watching a promo video of Azerbaijan. And now its time for the last song of the night that is named “Sleazy Mo”. It’s a hiphop style uptempo song. Aysel has two female bacing vocals on stage and a male DJ. She is really pushing hard but with no success.
This concludes the competitive part of the night.
First interval act is now on stage. Its an traditional instruments duo with modern influence performing Arashs “Boro Boro”. Eldar is now on stage. He is performing his new single “Waiting” on playback. Waiting is ballad but with a bit faster rhythm. Fun fact: Animation on the screen is the same as it was for Bulgaria in the second semifinal last year.
Third interval act is last Azerbaijans representative, Sabina Babayeva. She is performing “When the music dies” and she is in the same outfit that she was wearing last year. Just there are not those amazing effects on the dress. Sabina is also “singing” on playback. Next interval act is a boy band leaded by Cengiz Mustafa. Their song was an acoutic traditional ballad. Now we are presented with the host country, Sweden, and its previous winners. Also the big five is presented, as current betting odds. Switzerland and Hilsermee name problem is mentioned also. I guess that they made this video before it was announced that they will perform as Takasa.
After lomg commercial brake we are back. Another interval act is up on stage. It’s one of the jurors. Her song is the best uptempo song of the night if you ask me.
and we have the winner: Farid Mamedov will sing “Hold me” in Eurovision 2013. Congratulations!
