MOLDOVA – Constantin Cobilean passed through the auditions for the Moldovan national selection, O Melodie Pentru Europa, the show through which the country will decide its participation to the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest, with the song “Mama”. But there’s a slight problem: the song was already performed in the 2015 Russian X-Factor!
The song which performed in Romanian language appealed to the TRM jury and got a ticket for the semi final on February 24th. It is clear though that the song must be disqualified as it breaches the EBU rules. In 2015 the song was performed by Artur Best, an Armenian descent who wrote the song.
The X-Factor performance took place in March 2015 and Best’s manager confirmed that there was an agreement to give to Constantin the song, though we cannot be sure if the Moldovan signer knew about its previous broadcast and performance of the song.
Another Anna Book case? Well no matter what it’s clear that the song is not eligible to participate in the Moldovan national selection. TRM has not commented the news yet.
