MOLDOVA – Moldovan national jury members, spoke about their vote but also the fact that they did not give points to the WRS, the representative of Romania.
According to them, the reason why Romania was not in their choices is that there was a lot of competition.
However, unlike the judges in Chisinau, who did not give any points to Romania, the audience was diametrically opposed, giving Romania 10 points.
The Moldovan judges for Eurovision 2022 consisted of Adriano Marian, soloist Cristina Scarlat, Ilona Stepanov, soloist Natan and lyricist Radmila Popovici.
TVR MOLDOVA spoke with them, but only two agreed to reveal how they shaped their vote.
Lyricist Radmila Popovici said:
“I gave Romania the 10th place, which is translated into points, would be two points. I am a Romanian citizen and I like Romania, but that does not mean that if my mother sings and sings wrong, I would give her the highest grade, I would give it to someone who would sing well. What blames us is that we do not live in a free country, but in a dictatorship. “If this is what our people want, I will carry out their orders for the sake of joy, but then I will say, I love Romania, but I will vote as I like.”
Conductor Adriano Marian said:
“We put the 24 countries in order of preference from 1 to 24, after the 12th place there are no points. For me the United Kingdom was first, Ukraine was one of the first. Romania was in my preferences but in the middle. I feel a little strange that I did not give her points, it is a strange situation, they called me, I accepted, I did my job from my humble experience in music “.
