ITALY – The Roman artist was the protagonist of what, to all intents and purposes, can be called “Miracle in Lisbon”: against an indescribable amount of predictions “You did nothing to me” he was third in the televoting, openly challenged Eleni Foureira who it was exhibited forty seconds earlier with “Fuego” and gave Italy a fifth place that very few dared to hope for on the eve.
“I remember from my experience at Eurovision that they were days of extreme tension and fatigue, especially since the production, that year, in Lisbon had scheduled 4 rehearsals a day for the whole week, we started from 8 in the morning until late afternoon. There was a test for the height of the microphone stand, one for singing, one for the cameras, and one for the look. It was a constant trying.
So much so that on the last day Ermal Meta sent the stunt double. I was in line with the other artists for this time when we weren’t supposed to rehearse, but it was just for the cameras. I found myself next to Ermal’s stunt double, a guy who worked on his staff similar to him in look, hair, physically, and then he forfeited me. He locked himself in the bedroom to sleep. And I did the camera test with this guy.”
The identity of the boy in question was not revealed, although it is possible to derive some clues from the photos that are still available today on the official Eurovision website.
Best wishes to Mahmood and Blanco
Mahmood, you who are older than Blanco, do not give up, do all the tests, do not send the double as Ermal did with me! Joke. Big good luck to Mahmood and Blanco for this experience. Make us proud.
