AZERBAIJAN – Nadir Rustamli will be representing his native Azerbaijan at the 66th Eurovision Song Contest in Turin.
With Fade To Black, Nadir Rustamli will represent Azerbaijan in the 66th Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in May in Turin.
About 300 songs were initially submitted for Nadir’s participation in Eurovision, from which the broadcaster chose the six most popular.
Since then, these were recorded by the artist, while the final selection was made by a committee.
The creators of Fade To Black are Thomas Stengaard and Andreas Stone Johansson. Thomas Stengaard is one of the composers of last year’s Cypriot participation El Diablo, but also that of San Marino Adrenalina.
Swedish singer Andreas Stone Johansson is best known for his role in the composition of Too Late for Love, with which John Lundvik represented Sweden in 2019.

The second series of the popular TV show concluded on 28 January, with Nadir polling more than 40% of the audience’s votes towards the final line-up.
Nadir’s mentor on The Voice of Azerbaijan was Eldar Gasimov, who is best known outside of his country for winning the Eurovision Song Contest for Azerbaijan in 2011, with Running Scared, a duet with Nikki.
Nadir admits that Eurovision was most definitely on his mind when he chose Eldar to be his coach on the programme, as representing his country at the Eurovision Song Contest has always been a dream of his, so he naturally gravitated towards the famous Contest winner.
Nadir has been into music since a young age; not only in its performance but also in the art of how it is created. He took piano lessons for 7 years, studied in music school and, while at university, joined a band.
In the band, Sunrise, Nadir was the lead, and also served as the art director for the group, getting to indulge his creative side even further.
