USA – NETFLIX’s Eurovision movie concluded at the end of 2019 and the production team was due to release the movie this May, coinciding with the 65th Eurovision Song Contest. The cancellation of the event and the virus outbreak postponed the release (obviously a marketing idea).
Last night the star of the movie, Will Ferrell was invited in RÚV Eurovision preview and voting show. Immediately after a song from the movie was released. The title is Volcano Man and the song is a duet with a singer named My Marianne.
“We had such a wonderful time shooting there in your country,” he said. “You guys are lovely. What a beautiful place on Earth, what lovely people. What a beautiful town Husavik. We loved it.”
This is the first song from the album Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, which will anyway accompany the movie.
With disco, ethnic-folk, breathy chanting clours, the song aims not to mock the contest but to embrace all the music genres participating in it.
Somehow we have the feeling that this song would surprise us all by been officially presented in the interval act of Eurovision 2020.
