O’G3NE are going to represent the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, the Ukraine, next year. Nearly 10 years after representing our country at the Junior Song Contest, the three sisters are doing so again, this time in Europe’s biggest song contest. On Tuesday 9 or Thursday 11 May, they are going to give Europe a taste of what has already made them famous in our country, namely their beautiful harmonies. The finals are on Saturday, 13 May.
As Eric van Stade, Managing Director of AVROTROS, explains, “In recent years, we have worked with some highly experienced artists, who already had a proven track record. This has made sure we are once again an important player at this contest. We are continuing this trend with O’G3NE. There’s no doubting the fact that the ladies are the clear favourites of fans and viewers to represent our country. Their huge fan base, with almost 100,000 followers on Facebook and Twitter and millions of views on YouTube, shows how much people love the trio. We are convinced that Europe will be bowled over by the beautiful voices of these three sisters.”
Lisa, Amy and Shelley, or O’G3NE, add, “It is amazing that, ten years after having taken part in the Junior Song Contest, we are going to have the opportunity to represent the Netherlands yet again. We are extremely proud that AVROTROS is putting its faith in us and we are really looking forward to this adventure. After the Junior Song Contest and winning The Voice of Holland, this is another highlight in our career. We are going to give it our all to make the Netherlands proud.”
AVROTROS and O’G3NE are going to be working on the song and the act in the months to come. More information will become available in 2017. In the months to come, fans of the Eurovision Song Contest and O’G3NE can keep informed via http://www.songfestival.nl and via facebook.com/teamog3ne.
INFO ABOUT O’G3NE
O’G3NE is a girl band made up of three extremely talented sisters: Lisa, Amy & Shelley. O’ = stands for their mother’s blood group, G3ne = for the genes that binds them.
O’G3NE made history by being the first band in the world to win The Voice. Immediately after winning the finals of ‘The Voice of Holland’ O’G3NE dominated the iTunes list with ‘Magic’ at number 1, ‘Change will come’ at number 2 and ‘Emotions’ at number 3.
In 2015 they performed at the sold-out ‘Vrienden van Amstel’ Live concerts in the Rotterdam Ahoy convention centre, they were asked by English singer-songwriter Olly Murs to be his opening act during his European tour in the HMH, and they rounded the year off by giving a series of concerts in the Amsterdam Ziggo Dome, together with their coach Marco Borsato, as part of the eleven Symphonica Concerts.
In 2016, O’G3NE took part in the ‘Beste Zangers’ [Best Singers] programme. This too was a huge success. In the first programme, the sisters presented their own version of ‘Clown’. This song immediately went to number one of the iTunes Top 100 and they even received compliments from Emeli Sandé. The ladies are embarking on a new adventure this year. In October they are going on their very first theatre tour, entitled ‘Three Times a Lady’. At the end of October it was announced that O’G3NE would be representing the Netherlands at the European Song Contest in Kyiv.
