STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN – Popular Swedish songwriter, Niclas Lundin, who has collaborated with several Eurovision artists, says the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest will be a battle between Sweden and Russia.
According to Lundin, the Swedish representative Frans has a very “powerful” song. “It’s the perfect combination of a simple, low key song with a current production together with an intimate artist approach that is impossible not to love”, Lundin says.
On the other hand, the songwriter, who has composed for Russian representative Sergey Lazarev in the past, says the song “You are the only one” is equally powerful. “He is a brilliant artist and vocalist”.
The songwriter believes the competition between the two at Eurovision will be like a battle between David and Goliath.
Niclas Lundin noted that the controversial Ukrainian entry “1944” is touching. “People love real stories. When Jamala sings you can feel that it comes out of real emotions, pain and sorrow. A lot of people share the pain, even if the cause of the pain may be different for everyone”, Lundin says.
