CYPRUS – Since July, there were rumours about Eleni Foureira entering the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of CyBC.
The rumours got hideous the past few weeks with many fansites reposting what Greek and Cypriot media were saying, leaving them with no credibility. Some of them actually confirmed the news.
But it was oikotimes, which from the very first moment denied the news Today, OPEN TV slaying morning show, presented exclusively what we couldn’t report due to embargo.
Eleni Foureira will not represent Cyprus in Eurovision 2021
So what’s really happening? Let’s have a clear view of the real news and not from those who believe they have “….fun”.
Eleni has always an open door from CyBC to return to Eurovision. Indeed Alex Papaconstantinou brought her four songs, in a draft demo versions.
Out of kindness PANIK RECORDS discussed with the composer and listened to the demos. But that’s without any official blessing or request of CyBC.
After all, CyBC is discussing with many singers and many authors and Alex has no exclusive agreement with Cyprus (yet).
PANIK RECORDS also states that it would be suicidal for Eleni to return in a contest where there is low chances to have a huge audience in the arena to cause an earthquake, as she did in Lisbon in 2018.
The pandemic is not leaving for lots of options and Cyprus has to decide. Let’s not forget that already Iceland and Russia are eager to return with a top favourite to get back at their loss to their masterpieces in Eurovision 2020, which was cancelled.
PANIK RECORDS made it clear: “No Foureira for Eurovision 2021“!
Finally, someone said it and finally, most Eurovision fan sites ridiculed themselves once again!
