OSLO, NORWAY – While most of Eurofans are focusing on the forthcoming Swedish Melodifestivalen final, let’s not forget that on the very same night Norwegians will hold their national final too.
Since this year’s Melodi Grand Prix is a one-night only show (just like its Danish counterpart), it has probably drawn less attention this year, despite a rather interesting line-up and a few innovations.
NRK announced earlier today what the final will consist in. The 2015 Norwegian representative will be chosen via televoting only since no juries will be involved in this year’s edition of MGP. Moreover, the show will be split into two parts. First, the 11 acts will perform on stage (accompanied by the NRK Orchestra), and after a first round of voting only 4 of them will proceed to a « Golden Final ».
Eventually, one entry will be elected to succeed Carl Espen and will be sent to Vienna. We should also underline the fact that Kringkastingsorkestret or KORK (Norwegian Radio Orchestra), that has been absent from MGP for the past 17 years, will be back to accompany the performances live.
The 53rd edition of MGP will be hosted by Silya Nymoen and Kåre Magnus Bergh, live from the Oslo Spektrum on March 14th.
